Boom Foot Bores
Restore worn pivot bores at the boom heel without removing the gantry or back-stays.
Sarus deploys the Climax BB5500 portable line boring machine to restore worn crane pin bores in place — no teardown, no shop transport, no extended downtime.
Worn pin bores and bearing journals are a classic cause of crane downtime. Pulling a boom, A-frame, or slewing connection for shop machining can mean weeks out of service plus heavy transport cost. With the Climax BB5500, we machine the bore back to OEM tolerance on the crane — where it sits.
The BB5500 mounts directly to the workpiece, references off the existing bore, and removes the need to disassemble structural connections. For port, intermodal, and shipyard cranes, it's the difference between a planned weekend outage and a month-long teardown.
A heavy-duty portable line boring machine purpose-built for in-place repair of large industrial bores. Clamp-on or footed mounting, hydraulic drive, and a configurable bar length make it ideal for the deep structural bores found on port and shipyard cranes.
Restore worn pivot bores at the boom heel without removing the gantry or back-stays.
Re-machine A-frame and back-stay pin bores on STS and ship-to-shore cranes in place.
Bore out worn pivots in equalizer beams, trolley wheel assemblies, and sheave bores.
Re-machine large-diameter slew-bearing pin bores without removing the bearing.
Repair worn trunnion bearings on pedestal, offshore, and floating shipyard cranes.
Knuckle and articulation pin bores on lattice and box-section booms returned to spec.
Bore restoration only works if the diagnosis is right. Our crews plan around your operating window — and document every step so the repair holds up to QA review.
Site survey and bore-condition inspection before mobilization
Mount-and-setup directly to the workpiece — no shop transport
Bore-axis alignment with electronic tooling and laser reference
Machining to OEM tolerances and structural drawings
Insert installation or weld build-up where bore wall requires it
Inspection records and as-built documentation at hand-over
On-site line boring across crane pin bores, A-frame connections, and slewing joints — re-machined to OEM tolerance without leaving the terminal.
Worn crane bores are a costly downtime driver. Our field crews can survey, plan, and execute on-site line boring at your terminal or yard — without pulling the boom.
